Job Description

Job Purpose

The Senior Product Manager (SPM) at Nielsen is an essential catalyst for innovation within the audience measurement landscape. In this role you will oversee the entire product lifecycle including validating product-market fit, executing the product vision, and leading cross-functional teams to deliver products that delight our customers.

To Be Successful In This Role You Will Need

  • Technical Empathy for SDK Consumers: Our clients are development teams at broadcasters and streaming services. The PM who succeeds here won't just write requirements - they'll think from the perspective of the engineer doing the integration. The ability to walk in a developer's shoes — without necessarily being a developer yourself — is the single most important differentiator in this role.
  • Measurement Domain Fluency: Nielsen's SDKs exist to feed the measurement engine. A PM who understands why each metadata field matters, how a misconfigured content ID corrupts a rating, or why latency on a ping matters for ad measurement will make far better prioritization decisions than one who treats the SDK as an abstract data pipe.
  • Proactive Client Partnership Over Reactive Support: Our clients have engineering teams with their own release cycles, compliance windows, and capacity constraints. A successful PM in this role anticipates them - publishing clear migration guides ahead of a version change, proactively reaching out to at-risk integrators, and building trust so clients treat Nielsen as a partner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the multi-platform SDK roadmap across Browser, iOS, Android, and Domless (CTV/OTT) surfaces, balancing client needs, platform constraints, and measurement accuracy.
  • Prioritize features, deprecations, and platform support decisions in collaboration with engineering leadership and Nielsen's measurement science teams.
  • Define and maintain a clear release cadence for SDK versions, ensuring backwards compatibility and a predictable integration lifecycle for external partners.
  • Drive the quality and completeness of SDK documentation, sample code, and integration guides published to the Nielsen SDKDOC knowledge base.
  • Partner with support engineers to triage and resolve integration issues, identifying patterns that inform product improvements or documentation updates.
  • Work with Nielsen's product and data science teams to ensure SDK instrumentation accurately captures signals needed for DCR, DTVR, and DAR measurement.
  • Represent the SDK team in broader product forums, communicating roadmap status, risks, and opportunities to senior stakeholders.
  • Maintain awareness of platform-level privacy policies (Apple ATT, Google Play data safety, browser cookie regulations) and proactively adapt the SDK roadmap to keep Nielsen compliant.
  • Own Privacy Policy maintenance within the SDK documentation and ensure all client-facing materials reflect current compliance requirements.
  • Track record of working directly with external clients or partners on technical integrations, including documentation, onboarding, and issue resolution.

Qualifications

Key Skills

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field is preferred
  • 4-7 years experience in product management of a data product.
  • Experience working in agile environments with distributed engineering teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical requirements for both engineering audiences and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated understanding of multi-platform software distribution — ideally including mobile (iOS/Android), web (JavaScript), and/or connected TV environments.
  • Knowledge of project and product management tools like Jira
  • Nimble with fail-fast mindset to drive rapid iterations of product development
  • Strong time management skills
  • A customer-first approach by anchoring and solving customer problems rapidly, aligning data-driven decisions with customer needs
